I’m very lucky this Christmas get a chance to have a road trip to Special Region of Jogjakarta a.k.a Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta.
Monday afternoon my brother suddenly called, “Do you want to join us to Jogjakarta?” and of course I said ” Yes! I’d love too!”
“Get prepared I’ll pick you up at 9”
Tighten your seat-belt, it’s gonna be a long journey!
At 9pm my brother pick me up, we check up all the tires, full fill the gasoline, and finally depart to the first meeting point, Km 19 of Jakarta – Cikampek highway and meet another group there
We choose to take the south line of Java instead of the north, since usually most of Trucks and Buses choose to use the north.
Here is the track that we choose:
Jakarta Bandung via Cipularang highway – Nagreg – Tasikmalaya – Ciamis – Banyumas – Kebumen – Wates – Wonosari
(Wates and Wonosari are still part of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta / DIY )
*Cipularang highway is part of Jakarta Cikampek highway that lead us to Bandung.
And there we are 2 cars have a road trip to Jogjakarta.
After several hours, we make a long stop at Banjar to have our breakfast. Banjar is only about two hours from the outer side of Ciamis, West Java.
This is the view of the road in front of the restaurant.
and this is the view of the traditional restaurant where we make a long stop to have our breakfast.
We finally arrived at our basecamp in Wonosari (south east side of Jogjakarta) in the afternoon, recharge the energy, and do the culinary tour in the morning.
The first place that we visit is “Soto Tan Proyek”, located in Logandeng – Wonosari. “Soto Tan Proyek” use a Javanese traditional house for it’s restaurant. This kind of Traditional house is called as “Rumah Joglo“.
Wonder how exciting is this? Well, let’s take a peek in it’s booth.
And these are the look of the foods, can they make you drool? :)~~~
After the breakfast we make several visits. Visiting some of our relatives and celebrate Christmas there.
Together we make a plan to go to Mount Merapi, and there we are, from two cars become 3 cars, go together to Mount Merapi.
Btw, Merapi is the most active volcano in Indonesia and has erupted regularly since 1548.
