Some of you may ever heard about the beautiful three color lakes in Flores, but how may of you have visited these lakes? It is probably because these lakes located in an island that is quite far from Java Island, the most crowded island in Indonesia, but it can also because there are not so many complete facilities there.
If you see the map above, you will find that Flores Island pretty close to Bali and even closer to Timor Leste, yup, that famous one! Now you may asking, what is so beautiful so it is worth to go there while the facilities is not superb?
Gorgeous! That’s also the first word come out of my mouth once I have seen it. These three lakes are actually volcanoes that change its color from time to time, according to the local officer at Kelimutu National Park, the changed of the color caused by chemical reaction of any minerals contained in the lake in triggered by volcano gas activity, the most dangerously beautiful is when their color are Red, White Green, and Black.
These three lakes are Tiwu Ata Mbupu (Lake of Old People) is usually blue or black, and is the westernmost of the three lakes. The other two lakes, Tiwu Nuwa Muri Koo Fai (Lake of Young Men and Maidens) and Tiwu Ata Polo (Bewitched or Enchanted Lake) are typically white green or red in color.
